Utah is preparing for one of the worst RSV seasons we’ve ever had. We are seeing multiple RSV cases each day in our office, EVEN IN OUR PATIENTS AS YOUNG AS 2 WEEKS OLD. Primary Children’s Hospital has had record breaking days in their Emergency Department with over 200 patients seen in 24 hours. Many of their units are currently at over 100% capacity. They are preparing to ask that doctors keep small patients at community units, which means that our local hospitals will fill quickly.
It is very important to keep your babies healthy as we head into the holiday months. Stay home if you can. If you can’t, keep your baby very close to you and insist family and friends admire them from a distance. Wash your hands! Do everything you can to keep yourself and your most vulnerable family members healthy while the doctor’s offices and hospitals do their best to manage the current high rate of appointments and admissions.
