Happy St Patrick's day to all of our friends both Irish and not. Today we enjoyed our very own shamrock shakes, played a wee bit o St. Patrick's Day wheel of fortune, found out our leprechaun names, and attempted to dance a jig or two.

We had a busy day with visitors. The Hoover kids came to read and play a dice game. We had a few competitive residents and students in their race to 100! 🎲

Our afternoon was full of laughs and music with Allen and Kyrsten Carlson. They are a few of our favorite visitors around here and they always fill the house! 🎶

We had a visit from a therapy dog group yesterday, and as always the residents loved it (ok, let's be honest, the staff did too 🥰). It would only take a few minutes of observation to see the social, emotional and mental benefits the whole building experiences when therapy animals come to visit.

Busy day so far! This morning I pushed the residents out of their comfort zone a bit and taught them how to play 'dueling mahjong'. They weren't too happy with me in the beginning but once they got the hang of it it went well and just might become a new regular.

Following lunch we were joined by a class from Hoover Elementary for some reading and crafts. At a beautiful, sunny, 45 degrees rainbows were the craft of choice. This intergenerational time is so important and treasured. We cannot thank Mrs Brudwick enough for making this happen 💕

This is a “free” magazine called “River Valley Women.” In it is a beautifully written article by Michelle Biedschied re: her parents. Oak terrace was blessed to be a big part of their lives. It’s a good read. I suggest reading it for yourself and share it with others dealing with loved ones and the journey of possible “elderhood”. Know, you are not alone….. 💕
