Someone had a question, here's the differences between microneedling and IPL:
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) for Rosacea
What it does:
IPL targets the red pigment (hemoglobin) in visible blood vessels (telangiectasia), flushing, and general redness. It uses light energy to heat and destroy abnormal blood vessels without harming surrounding tissue.
Pros:
• effective for reducing redness and broken capillaries.
• Quick treatment with minimal downtime.
Cons:
• Can be expensive and usually requires a series of treatments.
• Not suitable for darker skin tones due to risk of hyperpigmentation.
• Can be uncomfortable—often described as feeling like a rubber band snap.
Best for:
Persistent redness, flushing, visible capillaries.
Microneedling for Rosacea
What it does:
Microneedling uses tiny needles to create micro-injuries, stimulating collagen and elastin production, improving skin barrier function, and reducing inflammation over time.
Pros:
• Can improve skin texture, reduce post-inflammatory erythema, and strengthen the skin barrier.
• May help reduce sensitivity and flare-ups over time when done gently and properly.
• Can be paired with calming serums (like hyaluronic acid or herbal TCM formulas).
Cons:
• Must be done very gently for rosacea-prone skin to avoid flare-ups.
Best for:
Overall skin healing, barrier repair, improving texture, and reducing post-inflammatory erythema (but not acute redness or broken vessels).
