Chances are, you may experience a few days to a few weeks of “baby blues,” or feeling sad or moody, after having a baby. You’ve gone through a lot, so it’s completely understandable! Sleep, healthy food, exercise, and support from friends and family can all help to ease these symptoms.
Another 10% of mothers may develop postpartum depression, a more severe form of depression which can be dangerous to you and the baby. It’s important to recognize the signs so you can get help. These can include feelings of hopelessness, disinterest, and thoughts of harm. Call your doctor or therapist right away if you think you have postpartum depression.
