A major review of over 15,000 births found that when women have consistent support (like a doula) throughout labor, they are:
- More likely to have a spontaneous vaginal birth
- Less likely to need a cesarean or interventions
- Less likely to use pain medication
- More likely to have a positive birth experience
- Likely to have shorter labors

Even more powerful? The greatest benefits were seen when that support came from someone trained and dedicated to the role, such as a doula. Continuous support isn’t just comforting—it’s transformative.
