🤍💚💙Emotional Well-Being💙💚🤍

Do you know how important is to have emotional support in your life?🤔💭

Yes, it is important. As we advance in age, our emotions tend to fall due to the loss of sense of independence.

That's why we must encourage our seniors to feel strong, valuable, and happy. We need to show them how much we love them with little gestures of kindness. ❤️👴🏻🌟❤️

Remember that older adults can be emotionally stable, and see life with a positive outlook. But, it is important to always keep an eye on them.

In some cases, seniors can present depression since they were in activity for years. Then, when they find themselves in a period of inactivity, they tend to feel depressed.

The key for an emotional well being is to pay attention to your emotions, express them, and at the same time recognize them.

Your emotions are part of your life, embrace them. 🤗💕

Neurological Disorders in Seniors🧠💥

This is a topic that we should all know.🌍💭

There are certain neurological disorders that affect the elderly. The main reason is due to previous pathologies that might cause risky neurological conditions.

For this reason, it is important to take care of the health of our seniors; their health is our first priority.

In this section we'll mention the most common neurological disorders in seniors:

1️⃣Headaches: Repeatedly headaches may be dangerous.
2️⃣Strokes: Lack of blood flowing the brain might lead to a stroke.
3️⃣Alzheimer's Disease: It starts with memory loss.
4️⃣Parkinson's Disease: It is a progressive nervous system disorder that affects coordination.
5️⃣Epilepsy: Abnormal electrical activities in the brain that cause unprovoked seizures in the body.

Those are the most common neurological disorders in seniors. Some of them have a long term treatment, and others don't. But, the most important is to be informed about each one, because it would help us to understand much better how to approach to people who are going through that.

The nervous system is complex, but the functions that it can perform are extremely important. When you understand the symptoms of the neurological disorders, you can help someone to get the right treatment.

Let's be compassionate to those who need it most.💛💫

💖👴🏻👵🏻This weekend we celebrate our National Senior Citizens Day.👴🏻👵🏻💖

Let's learn more about this holiday:

In 1988, former president 🇺🇸Ronald Reagan🇺🇸 established this holiday as a national holiday to raise awareness about the issues that affect senior citizens.

It is not a secret that president Reagan suffered from Alzheimer's disease. His goal was to improve the healthcare system, and the quality of life for seniors.

This holiday is celebrated every August 21.📆📝

Remember that growing older is not bad when you have good friends by your side. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦❤️

Behavioral Health vs Mental Health🧠🧐

We love Sundays with health information. 🏃🏻‍♀️💚

Today in our health section we'd love to share with you guys the difference between Behavioral Health and Mental Health.

When we hear the words👂🏻behavioral and mental, we tend to think🧐: "Oh, it's the same thing". But the fact is, it is not.

🔺Behavioral Health is the composition of your behaviors in a daily basis. This can be considered as simple habits such as eating, exercising, and sleep routines.

These habits are directly related to your behavioral health. They can develop behavior patterns that impact your physical and mental health. That's why behavioral health includes mental health. It is the foundation through habits for a good or poor mental health. 😃🤷🏻‍♀️😭

🔻Mental Health is managed by the influence of our behaviors and thoughts. 💭

A person can have a good mental health, if their behaviors are leading her or she to have good habits. Actually, people with chronic physical conditions are more likely to suffer mental health problems due to the distress that they are dealing with.

For example, people with diabetes or cardiac conditions often develop depression, and anxiety. This a very common factor in our seniors that we need to pay attention.

Today let's be more kind to the people around us. 🤗❤️

If you see someone needs help, don't hesitate to help them.

Importance of Sleep😴💤

Sleep is a fundamental key to develop a good physical health.

For older adults, sleep is so important to lower the risk of diseases; such as high blood pressure, cardiovascular diseases, and obesity.

Do you know the benefits of sleep? Let's find out:

When you sleep your body has the capacity to recover after a long day.
Some benefits are:

🔸Boots your mood: Not getting enough sleep can lead to mental health issues like depression.
🔸Supports metabolism: Getting enough sleep helps your body to keep the levels of ghrelin🧬, better know as the hormone that stimulates your appetite.
🔸Excellent memory: That's what we call: Brain power🧠. Lack of sleep affects your concentration, and memory. For this reason, getting enough sleep will keep your memory sharp.
🔸Cognitive process: A good sleep within 7 to 9 hours per night can restore your cognitive functions.

As we know, some older adults have problems to sleep. That's why we want to share with you some tips:

🔹Establish and maintain a sleep schedule.⏰
🔹Go to bed earlier.🛌
🔹Implement some exercises of lower impact to your daily routine.🏃🏻‍♀️
🔹Avoid caffeine and sugary foods before diner time.☕️🍪

We hope you have an excellent week.😊💚😴💤

Do I Need Home Health Care?🤔💭

That's a very good question that at some point of our lives has crossed our minds. It could be for us or a loved one.🤷🏻‍♀️

As specialists say, when there is a need of help with the ADLs (activities of daily living), then home health care is needed. This could be for an elderly parent or someone with a disability.👩🏻‍⚕️🩺

To better understand this topic, let's learn more about the 5 ADLs:

🔹Eating: Meal preparation by yourself.
🔹Bathing: Taking a shower by yourself.
🔹Toileting: Going to the restroom by yourself.
🔹Mobility: Ability to transfer yourself from one place to another.
🔹Dressing: Dressing and un******ng by yourself.

Those are the basics of the ADLs. If the person cannot accomplish one of them, then home health care is needed. This means that the person qualifies for a healthcare professional to assist him or her at home.

Home Health Care is a whole world🌎❤️ where a skilled professional is someone capable to help you.👴🏻❤️ The daily activities, medicine management, household chores, and companionship are a compound of activities that can be handled by a healthcare professional.

We always say that it's better to request help on time, and not feel bad about it. For many families, home health care is a tremendous support for the daily activities, and responsibilities.

We're here to help when is needed.👩🏻‍⚕️💚
