March is Women’s History Month, a time to recognize the women who have shaped industries, strengthened communities, and quietly carried the work of care across generations. In health care—and especially in home health care—the story of this field cannot be told without recognizing the women who built it and continue to sustain it today.
Across the United States, women make up the overwhelming majority of the home care workforce. About 87% of home health aides and 80% of personal care aides are women, and roughly 85% of the broader direct care workforce is female, supporting millions of older adults and people with disabilities in their homes every day. These professionals provide essential help with daily living, safety, companionship, and dignity—often becoming the steady presence families rely on during some of life’s most vulnerable moments.
At Accessible Home Health Care, we see the impact of women in care every day. From caregivers in the field to nurses, client services teams, schedulers, and leaders across our organization, women bring compassion, resilience, and expertise that make it possible for our clients to remain safe, supported, and independent at home.
During Women’s History Month, we celebrate the women who have shaped the caregiving profession and those who continue to move it forward today. Your dedication strengthens families, uplifts communities, and reminds us that the work of caring for others is both powerful and essential.
