Every time we go to Honduras, I’m reminded how much there is to be grateful for 🤍

I’m grateful for the ability to financially support this mission and bring my team to serve—something I never take for granted.

I’m deeply grateful for Irina, who so faithfully and compassionately cares for our Cleveland patients while we’re away.

One of the most meaningful parts of this mission to Honduras for Dr. Nelson and the team isn't in the clinic—it's in the smiles of the children they visit along the way.

While providing medical care with the Hemwall Hackett Patterson Foundation, Dr. Nelson and the team always make time to stop at local schools and orphanages, bringing toys, stuffed animals, and books to share.

The excitement on the kids' faces is unforgettable. Their joy, laughter, and pure happiness remind us why this work matters so much. These moments of connection are just as powerful as the care we provide-they bring comfort, hope, and a little extra light to these communities.

It's truly one of our favorite parts of the trip-and a memory we carry with us long after we return home.💛

On this mission to Honduras, Dr. Nelson and the Nelson Vein team are honored to serve alongside the Hemwall Hackett Patterson Foundation-bringing critical care to patients who need it most.

While many know us for treating vein disease and improving leg health, this work goes far beyond that. With the help of portable ultrasound machines generously loaned by SonoSite, our team is also able to assist with placing AV fistulas for dialysis patients—helping provide the access they need for life-sustaining treatment.

These are not just procedures-they are opportunities to relieve pain, restore function, and in many cases, save lives.
For patients with limited access to healthcare, this level of care can make an immediate and lasting impact.

We're incredibly proud of Dr. Nelson and the entire team for using their skills to serve others with compassion, purpose, and heart.

We came to Honduras to treat veins…
but today, we treated something deeper.

Inside this asilo are men and women who have been left behind—no visitors, no family, no one to remind them that they still matter.

When we walked in, we brought gifts in our hands…
but what they gave us in return was something we weren’t prepared for.

Eyes that lit up just because someone came.
Hands that held on a little longer than expected.
Smiles that carried both joy… and loneliness.

You could feel it—the quiet ache of being forgotten.
And the overwhelming power of simply being seen again.

Clinic Day 3—and what a day it’s been! 💙

Today, Dr. Nelson and the team cared for an incredible 177 patients—with just four doctors! The need is immense, but so is the heart behind this work. We’re honored to be able to provide care to so many individuals who truly need it.

After a long and meaningful day in the clinic, we had the privilege to visit local schools and share some joy with the children by handing out toys we brought with us. It’s always one of the most special parts of this trip—seeing their excitement, smiles, and pure happiness is something we’ll never forget.

We are grateful for every moment, both in and out of the clinic. Stay tuned for more from our journey in Honduras 🇭🇳✨
