Jason A. Collins, MD is an Orthopaedic Surgeon who has completed fellowship training in Sports Medicine and Minimally Invasive Arthroscopic Surgery.

Dr. Collins works to improve patient performance and reduce pain through state of the art non-operative modalities including activity specific training, oral medications, as well as treatment with Hyaluronic Acid Viscosupplementation, Corticosteroid, Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), and Stem Cell/Cellular Matrix Injections.

-When necessary, Dr. Collins also performs minimally invasive and state of the art surgery including:
-Arthroscopic Knee, Shoulder, and Elbow Surgeries
-Direct Anterior Hip Replacements
-Total Knee Replacements (Including Robotic Assisted Replacements)
-Partial Knee Replacements (Including Robotic Assisted)
-Reverse Total Shoulder Replacements
-Stemless Anatomic Shoulder Replacements
-Trauma and Fracture Fixation
*Joint Replacement Procedures are performed with no external sutures or staples, using 'Dermabond Prineo' plastic surgery type wound closures.

-Dr. Collins was born and raised in Fort Myers, Florida. He was a varsity letterman at Bishop Verot High School in football, basketball and track.

-He performed his undergraduate studies at the University of Florida, graduating from the Honors Program as an Anderson Scholar after receiving a full academic scholarship.

-Dr. Collins then attended New York University School of Medicine and received his Medical Doctorate Degree. He received the Distinguished Service Award while at NYU and served on the NYU School of Medicine student government.*NYU School of Medicine is currently rated among the top 5 medical schools in the country by US News and World Report.

-Dr. Collins completed his surgical internship and orthopaedic residency at NYU/Hospital for Joint Diseases. He served as a chief resident his final year of training. He assisted with the care of the New York Rangers hockey team, NYU Athletics, and Long Island University Athletics.*NYU/Hospital for Joint Diseases is also currently ranked among the top 5 orthopaedic hospitals in the country by US News and World Report.

-Dr. Collins completed his fellowship training in Sports Medicine/Arthroscopic and Minimally Invasive Surgery at the prestigious UHZ/Miami Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Institute. While there he served on the medical staffs of the Miami Dolphins, Florida Panthers, Florida International University Athletics, Miami Tennis Open, NCAA Orange Bowl, and the NFL Combine.

-Dr. Collins has been in independent practice in Sarasota County for over 5 years and has performed over 2,000 surgeries locally with over 20,000 patient office visits.

-Dr. Collins currently teaches medical students as a member of the Clinical Faculty for Florida State University College of Medicine. He also serves on the clinical faculty of University of South Florida and Nova Southeastern University.

-Dr. Collins has treated athletes from the Pittsburg Pirates, Atlanta Braves, IMG Academy, and numerous local high schools while practicing in Sarasota County. He also assists recently retired NFL players with disability evaluations.

-Dr. Collins has served area residents on Emergency Room Orthopaedic Trauma Call at Venice Regional Hospital, Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Doctors Hospital, and Lakewood Ranch Hospital.

-Dr. Collins has authored or co-authored over ten peer reviewed manuscripts published in the orthopaedic academic literature. He has presented locally, nationally, and internationally at academic conferences and has served as a consultant on orthopaedic device advisory committees.

-Dr. Collins is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons and has received fellowship certification by the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine as well as the Arthroscopy Association of North America.

-In his free time Dr. Collins enjoys outdoor activities and sports along with his wife and two young children.
