Sometimes crying feels like a release.
Other times it leaves you feeling worse — and that’s not random.
Crying helps when your body starts to soften, your thoughts are specific (not looping), and you feel safe or supported. In those moments, tears help your nervous system process what’s happening.
Crying can feel worse when your body is tense, your mind is spiraling, or you’re judging yourself for having emotions. Then the tears amplify stress instead of relieving it.
The tears themselves aren’t good or bad.
What matters is what your body, mind, and meaning are doing around the cry.
