From delicious food and wonderful company to heartfelt smiles and laughter, our home was filled with warmth, joy, and gratitude. We’re excited to showcase one of our resident’s creative artwork! Since she picked up coloring books, there has been a significant and positive impact in her behavior, concentration and attention span. With a history of urinary urgency and frequency, however, when engaged in coloring activities, she can sustain extended periods of concentration and mitigate the mental sense of urgency.

Research indicates that coloring books, such as Mandala books, offer numerous benefits, enhancing both physical and emotional health in the elderly. This engaging and creative activity helps promote mindfulness, supports concentration and focus, and reduces stress and anxiety. It is a simple activity that can help our elderly individuals gain a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction while fostering an overall positive mood. 😃

As we celebrate 50 years of Hmong in the U.S., one question we ask our Hmong elders is how life has been like in America for them. We spoke with different Hmong elders who have been in the U.S. since 1976 and on. They explained that Hmong people have came a long way and are more prosperous than ever, that education and success can help one earn respect from others. More importantly, the future generation of Hmong should hold onto their language and culture more than ever. Our Hmong elders are aging and community resources such as Hmong owned assisted living and businesses catered to meet their needs are important resources.
