This past week, we had the privilege of celebrating the graduates of the 2024–2025 Weber State University Supply Chain Management course. This rigorous nine-month program provided our students with six college credit hours, a strong foundation in supply chain management, and most importantly, the confidence that they can take on hard things and succeed.

We proudly recognize the accomplishments of:
Charles, Anthony, Jeremy, Salvador, Aaron, Max, LeAndrew, Ruben, Trevor, D’Angelo, and Rob.

The celebration was inspiring, with remarks from our program director, John Tervort; an introduction by Dr. François Carrier; words from Dean Dr. Jeremy Oiler; and comments from WSU staff member Nancy Tomon. Graduates Charles and Anthony shared powerful speeches, and the event concluded with closing remarks, and exciting updates on the upcoming class, from Nancy Tomon.

We are deeply grateful to Weber State University and the faculty who makes this possible, and the Jerry and Vickie Moyes Center for Supply Chain Excellence for continuing this transformative program for the fourth year in a row. This partnership plays a vital role in our mission to provide life-changing education, opportunity, and whole-person growth at John Volken Academy.

Our annual summer lake trip was the perfect reminder of why we do the work we do. Over the past several months, our guys have been giving their all: helping with the transition from Red Barn Academy, putting in countless hours on the new student housing building, and keeping our social enterprises running strong. Recovery takes discipline, dedication, and a lot of hard work. Our guys have been grinding hard.

But recovery is also filled with joy. Days like this: BBQing on the shore, boating, surfing, fishing, connecting with each other, and even sneaking in a nap, remind us that the effort is worth it. These are the moments we get to look forward to.

Construction continues on our new student housing building in North Salt Lake. Our team is working closely with the general contractor to complete renovations that will provide additional space and stability for future students. This project marks an important step forward in the future of John Volken Academy - UT!

Huge thank you to Peery's Egyptian Theater for donating 60 tickets so we could bring our entire house to see Annie this week!

Your generosity gave our students a chance to experience something special: a night out, a classic musical, and a reminder that the sun’ll come out tomorrow.

Shout out to our friends at The Haven!

They’re hosting a fundraiser car wash today, and all proceeds are going toward a Lagoon day for their students — a well-deserved chance to enjoy some fun in recovery!

We love seeing other organizations out here supporting each other, showing up, and reminding everyone that recovery doesn’t have to be boring. It can be full of connection, purpose, and even a little thrill now and then.

A group of guys, a lake, and no substances...just good energy, laughter, and the kind of memories you actually want to remember.

Trips like this one to Causey Reservoir are more than just fun. They’re a reminder that life in recovery can be full of adventure, connection, and moments that matter. Utah’s pretty amazing, and so is doing it all sober.

Even as we get closer to moving into our new campus, we’re still putting care into the place that’s gotten us this far.

Gardening teaches patience, responsibility, and the power of consistency, and there’s something deeply healing about getting your hands in the dirt and watching something grow. Proud of our students for keeping things thriving here at JVA.

Our 4th of July celebration hit a whole new level thanks to some incredibly talented students who put on a concert to remember for years to come!

From Jaiden’s electric Hendrix-style rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner to acoustic sets, combined numbers, and moving piano solos, the creativity, heart, and talent on display was unreal.

These guys poured themselves into the music and put on an unforgettable show for their brothers. We’re proud of the hard work they put in!

After 27 months of hard work, growth, and commitment, Mark has officially completed his time at John Volken Academy. He truly exemplifies the core values we teach: honest, integrity, accountability, and service. We couldn't be more proud!

Mark is now stepping into the next chapter of his life, making a difference not only for himself but also for his family and his community. His transformation is a powerful reminder of what's possible when you put in the work and never give up.
