Finished the week with delivery of modified Maryland bridges! This patient was referred by their orthodontist to seek a fixed prosthetic solution to replace their missing canines. The patient was too young for implants but did not want to go to college without a fixed prosthetic option.

Our decision was to perform inlay preps on 5 and 12 and use the laterals for retainer wings. This restoration was bonded in place and there are no centric or excursive forces on the pontics.

One of the best treatments we can offer a patient is a bar over-denture! You have the benefit of chewing like with a fixed prosthesis and the cleans-ability + lip support of a removable prosthesis. A fixed prosthesis is not always the best for our patients so make sure you keep this treatment in your arsenal!
