New Robot Alert! 🤖 Today, we began using our newest da Vinci® 5 robot (Intuitive), continuing our commitment to supporting skilled surgeons and care teams with the most advanced technology.

St. Joseph’s Health Hospital was the first in Central New York to acquire and use the da Vinci® robotic surgical system in 2005, and we continue to lead in advanced surgical care across a 16-county region. In 2017, we introduced the da Vinci® surgical robot for outpatient procedures at North Medical Center in Liverpool, NY, becoming the first in Central New York to offer robotic outpatient surgery.

Healthcare asks a lot of heart, so we’ve been spending time giving some of that heart back to our amazing staff.

Last week, our James Street team discussed the day-to-day stressors that come with patient care and created a “Permission to Pause” board — a collection of simple, realistic reset ideas that help them stay grounded throughout the day.

It was a reminder that compassionate care begins with caring for the people who provide it. When our team feels seen, supported, and centered, it elevates the care we deliver to every patient who walks through our doors.

This is compassionate care — on both sides. 💜🌿

🚨 Dense breast tissue can make it harder to see cancer on a standard mammogram — and women with dense breasts are at a slightly higher risk of developing breast cancer.

🩷 Regular mammograms remain the gold standard for early detection, and additional imaging tests – like ultrasound or MRI may be recommended for women with dense breasts to improve cancer detection.
