Dominic Pio Gasper

Dominic Pio Gasper, 1, passed away on March 31, 2026. Dominic was born in Michigan City, Indiana on March 8, 2025. He was adopted at birth by David and Jessica Gasper. At birth, Dominic struggled through major health problems, but through the intercession of Saints Dominic, Philip Neri, Padre Pio, Our Lady of Guadalupe, and the Lord's healing hand Dominic made a miraculous recovery.

Dominic was never seen without a smile or contagious giggle. His smile was certainly his most endearing trait, and the joy it radiated was irresistible. He brought tremendous healing to his family and reflected the love of the most Sacred Heart of Jesus to every person he met. Dominic did not know a stranger and he would give all his love to anyone who wanted to hold him, talk to him, or offer a great big kiss.

Dominic loved his siblings, playing peek-a-boo, clapping his hands, and hiding toys throughout the house. He always enjoyed saying 'dada' when his family asked him to say 'mama' and it was always followed by a great big laugh. He never missed a moment to sneak all the kisses he could. He enjoyed wagon rides in the yard, reading books, being sung to, and making his siblings laugh. Excluding hospital stays, Dominic and his family never missed a First Friday Devotion.

Dominic is survived by his Parents, David and Jessica (Buening) Gasper; Siblings, Joseph Timothy and Margaret Kateri Gasper; Grandparents, Donny and Charlotte Volk, Dan and Michelle Gasper; Great-Grandparents, Louise Mayer, Phil and Roseaaron Buening, Roger and Peggy Wagner, Leo and Patty Gasper; and Great-Great Grandma, Virginia Sympson. He was preceded in death by his Sister, Agnes Pia Gasper; Grandfather, Bradley Buening; and Great-Grandfather, Gregory Mayer.

His family asks everyone to wear white to Dominic's funeral, it is the Easter season of great rejoicing and the celebration of a new saint who has entered the Kingdom of Heaven. Dominic rests among the saints, interceding for his family and especially the unborn. Dominic Pio, pray for us.

A rosary of thanksgiving will be prayed at 3:30 PM on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Sawyer - Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. Visitation will follow from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at St. Ann's Catholic Church, North Vernon. Dominic's Godfather, Fr. Bobby Vogel will officiate. Burial will be in St. Ann's Cemetery following Mass. The funeral meal will be provided at St. Mary's Parish Center, North Vernon following the burial.

Memorials and donations may be made by non-immediate family members in Dominic's memory to Holy Family Catholic Adoption Agency, South Bend, Indiana due to David and Jessica continuing to be active with this agency. Donations may also be made to Trappist Caskets located in Peosta, Iowa, who generously donated Dominic's casket.
