Answer: "Support coordination is the service of advocating, identifying, developing, coordinating and accessing supports and services on behalf of a recipient, or assisting the recipient or family to access supports and services on their own. These services may be provided through waiver and Medicaid State Plan services, as well as needed medical, social, educational, other appropriate services, a

nd community resources regardless of the funding source through which access is gained." I am the single mother of a 21 years old daughter who was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. Caring for my daughter has been very rewarding, but as any caregiver knows, it has its challenges. I spent countless nights researching supports that could make things a little easier for my daughter and I. I decided that I wanted to make a difference in the lives of individuals and their family's with similar challenges.

Adaptive boxing for all ages located in New Kensington.

In case you did not know we offer a free adaptive boxing program at the Sanctuary for anyone with special needs. When we started this program months ago we wanted to keep it small to see how things worked out but the class has been amazing and we are looking to spread the word to bring in more students for this class. The class is every Tuesday from 5:30pm until 6:15. In this class we go over some footwork drills in the ladders, we hit the heavy bags as well as focus mitts with the coaches, and we also always finish with some fun games for everyone. We are really looking to expand this program this summer and we want to get more kids and adults with special needs into the sport of boxing. We have multiple coaches in the gym and we have a special education teacher as one of our coaches during our classes. We don’t believe in disabilities at the Sanctuary only abilities! We can adapt this program to any students needs. They do not need their own equipment because we have plenty that anyone can use. The program is free although some parents didn’t like that and felt bad so we did open it up to donations which must be 10 dollars or less we won’t accept more than that. Spread the word for us and help us grow this wonderful program 🩵
