There was a point in the pandemic when I thought I was done teaching . There is so much about the yoga industry that turns me off - summed up in what it means to make a living by offering a transformative spiritual practice in a consumer driven capitalist market driven by insidious narratives of imperialism and patriarchy, ableism and racism.
But yoga won out - and that’s because the tools of this practice are so profoundly supportive and transformative that after over a decade of study and teaching I couldn’t not offer them to others.
Especially now - when the struggle is increasingly real for so many.
In my approach to teaching,
yoga is a practice of self-inquiry that allows us to cultivate greater awareness on multiple levels of being - body, mind, heart and soul. This can be achieved in a variety of ways - through the practice of gentle breathing or through an intense, athletic vinyasa practice. As we learn to more deeply to ourselves, we also learn to connect more deeply to those around us and to the world which we inhabit. As our connection deepens, we learn to inhabit these spaces of self, land and community with greater sensitivity and ease.
My current in-person group class teaching schedule is above. All group classes are offered at Northampton Athletic Club on King St in Northampton where I’ve discovered a great community of dedicated yoga practitioners. A monthly membership at NAC includes all my classes plus access to a great team of group class instructors as well as the club’s facilities.
As for my current teaching, Wednesday Vinyasa will make you sweat, Sunday gentle invites you to breathe and move with ease. Tuesday Yin invites work on the body’s deeper tissues - bones, joints and ligaments. Deep relaxation is offered through the practice of yoga nidra.
In the coming year, keep an eye out for online offerings and opportunities for private instruction.
DM me with your questions and hugs.
Happy #2023 and much love to all of you!
