Individual, Child and Family Psychotherapy
Sensorimotor Psychotherapy
Development, Attachment and Trauma (Adults)
Children, Adolescents and Families:
I focus on the psychotherapeutic treatment of children (as well as children under 5) and adolescents who negotiate the sequela for reactive attachment and sensory processing disorders, complex and developmental trauma. I use a blend of modalities such as sensorimotor, play, narrative family and dyadic therapies with children, adolescents and their caregivers. Another area of focus is supporting and working with families and their children with special needs, medical fragility, learning differences and developmental disabilities. I help families in finding their way through empowerment while providing them with emotional support, educational consultation and parent guidance to inform their evolution as an advocate for their child’s needs. Sensorimotor Psychotherapy:
Traditional psychotherapy addresses the cognitive and emotional elements of trauma and early attachment issues but lacks techniques that work directly with the physiological elements. Research shows that trauma and early attachment profoundly affects the body and that many symptoms of afflicted individuals are somatically driven. Sensorimotor Psychotherapy® builds upon traditional psychotherapeutic techniques and principles, but approaches the body as central in the therapeutic field of awareness, and includes observational skills, theories, and interventions not usually practiced in psychodynamic psychotherapy. Theoretical principles and treatment approaches from both the mental health and body psychotherapy traditions are integrated in this approach. Special Education/Parent Consultant Services:
In the role of parent consultant and psychotherapist, I offer supportive services for families whose children have special educational needs from early childhood through young adulthood. I assist families in the determination and attainment of a Free and Appropriate public Education (FAPE).
