It’s a bittersweet heartstring tug knowing this month is coming to an end, and with it my sweet October residency back at Amber Lane.

Once upon a time, this was my weekly routine for months on end — it helped me through the long-term transitions of marriage, community, home base, and career. It brought meaning and responsibility, with client after client trusting me with their time and energy. And even when nobody showed up, I got to hang out with my oldest and newest friends.

I truly deeply hope you’ll swing by on our final two Tarot Thursdays, October 23 and 30, starting around 6:00 pm.

Bonus points for costumes.

The ritual of reading weekly for whoever shows up has had a profound effect on my work in tarot. As many return clients as I have, there are far more that I never see again. The trust it takes to sit down, often to an experience they’ve never had before, and share something true, and in such a small window of time — it’s a special alchemy.

Maybe I’m projecting.
(No pun intended.)

But I swear I can feel my whole community holding our collective breath today.

I anticipate many days to come steeped in that prolonged vulnerability of fear and hope, each competing for our attention and our peace and our stamina.

I had a thought to pull a card for us this evening but to be frank, my hands feel heavy.

So I looked up from my computer and beheld!

The moon won’t fix everything, but here she is, a physical sliver of hope.

Sometimes, we are held.
