Happy Friday ✨ Our second ACT skill: Cognitive Defusion!
Cognitive Defusion is a way to practice *separating* from our thoughts, rather than fusing with and being driven by them. When we're feeling anxious or down and those thoughts send you into that familiar negative spiral, we can learn to relate to them differently - not as facts, but as simple products of our mind. When we become aware of them and see them as they are (just thoughts!) we can separate them from our true selves, and be free to choose how we respond - even when our thoughts tell us differently!
