Jessica Chapman founded The Birth Concierge after discovering during the birth of her second child that no matter who you are, or how you’ve planned and prepared, birth unfolds in it’s own way…in it’s own time, and can leave a mother and new family feeling in need of a village of support. Her desire to combine her long standing call to be a birth worker with the gap in services she experienced through her own journey to motherhood led her to help others as they navigate their own way through this often overwhelming path to parenthood. Many services in the birth world focus primarily on the birth and immediate postpartum period, but do not address that beyond the medical event. This leaves large gaps in preparation, education, birth, and the postpartum period for many families. The Birth Concierge addresses this disparity through education, guidance, and specialized services while addressing many of the questions that have been left unanswered. The Birth Concierge offers Doula Services and Birth Classes in the Ventura County and LA County Areas, serving Thousand Oaks, Camarillo, Ventura, Los Angles, Santa Monica, Simi Valley, Westlake Village, Moorepark, Sherman Oaks, Woodland Hills and other locations.

Just swung by to check out my friend’s new baby! Heather Bruhn outdid herself creating this gorgeous space for our community. Okay, you guys convinced me...I've added in a one-day intensive birth class before the summer! Tell your friends! Come out on June 2nd for a birth class unlike anything else offered in this area. What a wonderful week full of postpartum visits with clients that now feel like family. Here's to all the doulas around the world. We sleep lightly, ready to leave our own families at a moments notice to rush to your side as you grow your own. Here's to our supporters, who step in to fill our shoes while we're gone. A big thank you to my own husband, who knows I must do this work even though it's highly inconvenient and can't be put on a calendar. To my friends who step in to watch my children, I couldn't do this without you. Hug a doula, we're loveable.

UPDATE: Yesterday the boys and I made runs around town. We were able to deliver my former work wardrobe to a woman who had lost everything and like most women, still had s**t to do and needed to be dressed well for it! (Funny thing, not sure why I kept those clothes, my birth worker "uniform" is mostly yoga pants. Guess I knew they'd come in handy one day)

We also were able to deliver a bag of postpartum care supplies to a mama who was evacuated in the middle of the night with her 2-day old babe and had lost everything, including her personal care items. Thank you, Mary Morris. Who knew leftover hospital items would come in handy so soon.

We picked up a generous donation of 3-6 month old boy clothes from the amazing Jessi Kolouri and will deliver to a family in need.
