Foundation for Retinal Research

Foundation for Retinal Research The Foundation for Retinal Research (FRR) is committed to finding treatments and cures for Retinal D

FRR continues to be instrumental in funding researchers who are seeking cures for retinal degenerative diseases through gene therapy, replacement therapy, and visual prosthetics. Recently, these researchers have restored vision in two forms of LCA, one through gene therapy and one through retinoid therapy. In addition there has been progress in new gene identification, biological analysis of discovered genes, retinal replacement therapies and drug interventions. Disease classification, patient registries and aid in establishing sites for clinical trials are all part of the game plan for conquering LCA. The Foundation for Retinal Research and the Foundation Fighting Blindness merged their two organizations on January 1, 2016.
