This has always been the TRUTH...

Stop overthinking, it is a dangerous habit...

– A quiet mind can hear intuition over fear.

– Do not ruin a new day by thinking about yesterday. Just let it go.

– Overthinking is the major culprit of unhappiness.

– Stop overthinking, because you cannot control anything but your actions and reactions.

– Overthinking is actually the art of creating problems that do not even exist.
Story telling.

– Do not worry about what can go wrong. Get excited about what can go right.

– Before you quit, try. Before you pray, forgive. Before you criticize, wait. Before you react, think. Before you talk, listen.
Pause, pause, pause.

*****This is a big one....
For all of us who are waiting for perfection, we can stop waiting right now. Being ambitious is great but aiming for perfection is unrealistic, impractical, and debilitating.

The moment you start thinking “This needs to be perfect” is the moment you need to remind yourself, “Waiting for perfect is never as smart as making progress.”

*****Accept your best for this day, for this day is a gift.
It’s the precious present!

We Are All Flawed

Forgiveness is a choice we make, and the ability to forgive others comes from the recognition that we are all flawed and all human. We have all made mistakes and harmed someone. We will again. It is always easier to practice forgiveness when we can recognize that the roles could have been reversed. Each of us has the capacity to commit the wrongs against others that were committed against us.

Choosing to forgive does not erase the reality of an injury nor does it ask us to pretend that what happened did not happen. It is quite the opposite. Real forgiveness and real healing require us to be honest about what has happened.

But first, we must make the choice.

Unfinished business doesn’t go away. It keeps repeating itself, until it gets our attention, until we feel it, deal with it, and heal.

It’s time to do the work on yourself, to release, to feel, to love yourself.
Life is precious~ Be in it!

The best foods to fight depression

Berries: A daily serving of berries has been shown to reduce inflammation. Luckily, they’re easy to mix into other dishes but they also work great as a snack on their own. Want some extra credit? Mix them in a cup of yogurt.

Yogurt: A 2023 study suggests fermented dairy products — like yogurt — may help soothe depression because of emerging evidence that poor gut health can worsen mental health issues and stress. And yogurt is full of probiotics that strengthen your digestive tract, so a spoon full of the stuff now might do your future mood some good.

Fatty fish: Fatty fish is full of omega-3 fatty acids, and research shows that these acids reduce depression rates. Stephenson says that salmon, mackerel, and sardines are accessible choices you can pick up at any local market.

Leafy greens: Research shows that consumption of greens is linked to lower depression rates — which is an excellent reason to up your intake of roughage like kale, spinach, Swiss chard, and bok choy.

fruits and vegetables:
diets high in fruit and vegetables are associated with low depression levels. So even microwaving some frozen green beans or grabbing a banana can add up.

“Depression is a serious condition.
Be kind and gentle with yourself as you explore what you need.”

The local dispensaries will become the first in the nation to post signs warnings that cannabis use could lead to mental health issues.

This is astonishing…

Today, an estimated 49.5 percent of adolescents are experiencing mental health disorders in their lives.

37.5 percent 9-18 years of age are experiencing feelings of hopelessness and have thoughts of an exit plan.

The promotion of positive mental health can prevent some of these problems.

For young people who do have mental health disorders, early intervention, talk therapy and treatment can help lessen the impact on their lives.

*Please take a deeper notice of your children.
We ALL have a responsibility and wherewithal to notice and acknowledge signs of our own, our extended family, our friends, as well as their friends.

The Teen Whisperer of the North Shore Facilitates Families To Get on the Same Page

Divorce and Marriage are considered major life stresses at the top of the standard scale of stressful life events: falling in love…and falling out. What have been the most traumatic events of your life—and how do you cope? Oh and the kids – what about the kids?
While the North Shore and society is obsessed with the romantic side of love: red roses, diamond rings and honeymoons, many of them are facing an increase in divorce. While society is obsessed with the romantic side of love: red roses, diamond rings and honeymoons, most people are not prepared to face the issues that occur when it all falls apart? The stages of heartbreak are similar to the recognized stages of bereavement: shock, denial, grief, anger, and then finally acceptance. Most of us are familiar with the ups and downs of a rocky relationship break-up: rage, hatred, numbness, ambivalence, and sometimes being left with a feeling of despair. But, what about the kids?
According to North Shore Life Counselor Robin Mitzen, who specializes in families, "Break-ups are even more painful for children who are experiencing a divorce. All kids cope differently. Some kids experience weight loss or gain while others turn to drugs or alcohol to cope with the grieving of divorce to try to escape the pain. Kids and their parents both need guidance and support during these difficult family times. My client families have found it very beneficial to learn from me suggested ways during the divorce recovery process by teaching boundaries to put in place that will help ease the stress while the parent is going thru a divorce. My number one priority is preventing kids from going down the wrong path, due to the lack of focus when going thru a divorce."
As a life counselor, Mitzen continues to help families sort through the things that are bringing them down, clearly identify the issues, and continues to help families move forward in a productive and meaningful way. Robin Mitzen's specialties include: Blended Families, Divorced Recovery, Teen Issues, Parenting, and Relationship Building.
With over 25 years' experience, Robin Mitzen continues to maintain her office located in Northbrook and Chicago where she continues to help people (children and adults) identify their issues and overcome the difficulties and challenges in their lives.

There’s no denying it. Life can be challenging at times. Between work, family, school and obligations, many of us find themselves running from one thing to the next without catching our breath.

This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.
A joy, a depression, a meanness...
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.
Be grateful for whoever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide.
