Our friends at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab/Northwestern University in Chicago,IL are conducting a research study that will help understand how golf swing performance is impacted by disability and impairment type.

This study will collect four primary outcomes:
Golf Background and Demographics
Player Classification Assessment
Swing Biomechanics using small motion sensors
Swing Performance using the ForeSight Simulator
Using these measurements, we are hoping to better understand how disabilities and impairments impact golf swings, which in turn, impact performance. The study is titled: The Relationship between Disability Type and Golfing Ability (STU STU00222950).

Hey everyone,

I was contacted by a fellow at Rosalind Franklin University in North Chicago regarding an ongoing study. It is about function and socket fit for above-knee amputees and is being conducted in tandem with the University of Michigan. The participants are compensated for their time. They are looking for above-knee amputee patients to participate in their study.

We were at the Chicago Golf Show® this weekend, we didn’t have a booth, but we were busy promoting adaptive golf. We visited the booths of several of our sponsors including, Chicago District Golf Association, Taggolfco, Tour Edge Golf, even the USAGA had a booth.

As the show is the unofficial start of the golfing season here in the Midwest, many of our events in the area have opened registration for their tournaments and fundraiser outings. MWAGA’s Fundraiser Scramble will be September 5th and the MWAGA Adpative Open is the 6th. & 7th at Redtail Golf Club in Lakewood Illinois. We have been made aware that there will be another adaptive tournament the week after our event in September. MWAGA is grateful that there is another Midwest adaptive tournament, we are concerned about this event being so close and having a similar name.

This has been a rough year as I am sad to report we have lost another friend, Kathy Morris. Our only solace is that she has been reunited with Walt in heaven. Please pray for the entire Morris family as they have lost both of these loving people in less than a year.
