Radical accountability often gets misunderstood as harsh self-criticism or taking responsibility for things that were never yours to carry. In practice, it’s more precise than that.
It’s about recognizing where you have choice, influence, or impact, even in situations shaped by history, power, or harm. That clarity can be uncomfortable, but it’s also what makes real change possible. Not control over others, but responsibility for how you respond, repair, and move forward.
In therapy, accountability isn’t about judgment. It’s about agency.
