We’ve never had someone leave our evaluation feeling underwhelmed. For the past 6 years, people ask, “how are they different?” They know immediately once we start our evaluation process.

With 60-75 minutes, we have plenty of time to listen to your story and understand what’s going on. We are probably the only healthcare providers who spend this much time on your pain.

The first 20-25 minutes is a detailed injury history where we ask you about your pain, goals, training volume, workouts etc.

Next we assess areas surrounding the painful site. Most places focus on the site of pain only.

Our clinicians are trained to find where your primary source of discomfort is coming from. No bandaid solutions. No temporary fixes.

We then map out a customized treatment program to help you understand the step by step process required to get you back to your goals.

We give you a timeline to help you know what/when to expect it.

Finally we develop a plan that addresses your body’s deficits so you have a long term solution.

Tennis elbow! We see this a lot. We also see people come in who haven’t been able to overcome their symptoms.

What is it? It’s an overuse injury of the muscles on the outside of the forearm. The muscles help you grip, reach, and extend the fingers.

You don’t need to play tennis to get it. There are people who type a lot who get these symptoms, contract workers, and of course the paddle sports players!

Why most treatment fails: rest makes the muscles/tendons weaker! You need load. Ice and heat are just temporary forms of relief. Stretching doesn’t load the muscles to rebuild it!

What actually work: tissue work/dry needling to calm things down; potential bracing to help reduce strain to the area; isometric exercises to start loading tolerance; and concentric/eccentric exercises to further the repair process.

Long term: Check spinal mobility, shoulder mobility, shoulder strength, rotator cuff strength, and the strength of muscles around the shoulder blade (mid trap, lower trap, serratus).

We always hear that clients are in therapy for months at a time without seeing progress. You should be seeing a change in symptoms within 2 to 3 weeks. Often times, we can get changes within the first day.

Element is looking for a full time PT at our clinic in NORTHFIELD.

Tired of seeing 20 patients per day? Or are you tired of working with clients who don’t even want to be there? Wish you could see 7-8 clients per day? Wish appointments were 1:1 for 60 minutes?

Element is a private practice that provides our clients with specialized care. We take pride in providing a premium experience of physical therapy. No cookie cutter exercises, no stopping rehab at what’s “medically necessary”. As an out of network provider, you’ll have the opportunity to help your clients achieve any of their goals. We offer prehab, rehab, maintenance, and performance services for our clients. The road SHOULDN’T stop at the end of rehab.

We’re looking for a motivated PT who’s looking to grow professionally, clinically, and personally. Mentorship includes: communication, sales training, clinical reasoning (plans of care, differential Dx, progressions/regressions etc). Ideal candidate is someone who is residency or fellowship trained.

Our approach is simple: let’s find WHERE your pain is coming from, THEN we find your deficits that may be contributing to your pain.

Our client is a long distance runner, and she came in after seeing multiple providers, and underwent months of rehab with no real progress.

On her own, she was performing loaded interventions + speed interventions without having some of the minimum requirements to MAXIMIZE her function.

We found limitations in her ankle range of motion, knee mobility, hip strength, and single leg stability. We start addressing these deficits in a STEP-BY-STEP fashion, and she’s starting to see results 💪🏾. Sometimes people progress things too quickly, leading to continued pain.

Definitely not for everyone with knee pain, but here’s a strategy we sometimes use for individuals experiencing joint-related pain with bending the knee.

A towel behind the knee helps to create some space in the joint as you sit your hips back towards your feet. The strap helps to stabilize the towel + create a little more force with the mobilization.

Typically right after this, we recheck the painful movement (squatting or just bending the knee) to see what changes were made 🙏🏾

Our eval process is 1 on 1 with our docs for an hour. The MOST important part though is the first 20 minutes. We sit and chat with you about your symptoms, what you’re experiencing, what you’ve tried to treat it, your workout routine, etc. That actually gives us an 80% idea of what’s going on.

THEN we look at movement. Watching your movement helps us determine which areas to examine in detail; what areas may be tight/weak/hypermobile; and what movements potentially produce your pain.

This is an example for someone with hip pain. Our upper extremity or spinal evaluations look very different. Not pictured are manual joint assessments to the hip, knee, and ankle, some plank assessments, and our breakdown of what’s going on + the timeline of recovery.
