For National Doctors’ Day, we’re proud to celebrate Dr. Matthew Finnegan, a renowned general surgeon with Garden State Specialty Care whose experience, compassion, and steady leadership are felt throughout Shore Medical Center. He specializes in hernias, hemorrhoids, gallbladder issues, abdominal pain, and wound care.
With decades of experience, Dr. Finnegan is known not just for his clinical skill but for the way he connects with patients, always taking the time to explain, reassure, and guide them through what can often be a stressful time.
He’s also played a key role in growing Shore’s Robotic Surgery Program, helping bring advanced surgical options to our community while supporting and mentoring members of our surgical team.
As Ronnie Vrabel, RN, OR/SPD Manager, shares:
“Dr. Finnegan has been amazing to work with at SMC. His experience, insight, and ideas have helped us grow our Robotic Surgery Program. His patients love him and OR staff enjoys working with him. Dr. Finnegan loves to teach and train new OR staff. He is always showing staff and med students something new and interesting. Dr. Finnegan will be a vital part of our Surgical RN Residency Program.
