💙 Community x Connection x Awareness 💙

Megan & Mandy here 👋 and we’re excited to share a fun local collaboration!

This month, we’ve partnered with Healthy Focus in Northfield to bring you the Shake of the Month — “Bluebird” or “Blue Blast”— in recognition of Autism Acceptance & Awareness Month.

Not only is it delicious, but it’s also a small way to help spark bigger conversations, increase understanding, and support our community.

If you stop in, you’ll also find:
• Brochures about our services
• A QR code to learn more about Midwest Autism ABA

And if you’re feeling a little extra like we were — we added the “Lava Lift Off” energy boost and definitely recommend it.

We truly love partnering with other local businesses to spread awareness, build connections, and support the community we’re so proud to be part of.

Go check them out, show some love, and grab a Bluebird 💙

💙 World Autism Day 💙

Today, we take a moment to recognize and reflect on the many experiences, perspectives, and journeys within the autism community.

Over time, there has been a meaningful shift from awareness to acceptance. While awareness helps us understand autism, acceptance is what creates real change. It’s about building spaces where individuals are not only supported, but truly understood, respected, and valued for who they are.

Acceptance means:
✨ Listening and learning
✨ Creating inclusive, supportive environments
✨ Recognizing and celebrating differences
✨ Advocating for dignity, respect, and access

At Midwest Autism ABA, we believe this work extends far beyond any one setting, it lives in our communities, our conversations, and how we show up for one another every day.

We also recognize that every individual and family experiences autism differently. There is no single story, no single path, and no “right” way to navigate the journey. That’s why meeting people where they are—with openness, compassion, and respect—matters so much.

As a community, we can continue to move forward by:
🌱 Taking the time to understand and learn
🌱Creating spaces of belonging and inclusion
🌱Celebrating strengths in both big and small ways
🌱Advocating for equity and meaningful support
🌱Staying connected and supporting one another

At Midwest, we are committed to being part of that work—supporting, advocating, and helping create environments where individuals can grow, connect, and be fully themselves.

Because even the smallest moments of understanding and connection can make a lasting impact.

🌱At Midwest Autism ABA, we recognize the critical role that motor and sensory play has in our learners’ development. These activities help children build coordination, balance, spatial awareness, and cognitive skills—essential foundations for growth and learning.

Take a sneak peek at our motor room, a favorite space where our learners explore, play, and develop new skills. Incorporating motor and sensory play into daily routines supports self-regulation, adaptive functioning, and overall well-being.

Our ABA clinic is committed to providing individualized opportunities for motor and sensory play, supporting each child’s progress and maximizing their potential.

Interested in ABA? We currently have a waitlist, but we are accepting new learners ages 6 and younger to join our waitlist for center-based services. If you have questions about ABA therapy, want to schedule an evaluation, or simply want to learn more, please reach out—we’re here to help! 🌱

✨ Staff Spotlight: Ella W. ✨

We’re excited to highlight Ella, a member of our Behavior Therapy team who brings patience, compassion, and genuine care to the children she works with every day. 💚

Ella is from Faribault and says what drew her to working with kids in ABA is getting to see and hear how much they’re improving. Watching that growth firsthand makes the work incredibly meaningful.

One of the strengths she’s most proud to bring to her role is her patience and compassion, which help her create supportive and encouraging moments for the kids she works with.

Outside of the clinic, Ella enjoys watching documentaries and listening to music.

Something Ella hopes families know about her is that she genuinely cares about every child she works with and strives to create a warm, safe, and supportive environment for them to learn and grow.

We’re so grateful to have you on our team, Ella! 🌱

✨ Staff Spotlight: Katyana Cárdenas, Behavior Therapist ✨

We’re so excited to introduce you to Katyana!

When asked what made her interested in working with kids and ABA, Katyana shared that she loves seeing their progress and helping them achieve new goals — and that passion for growth is evident in the way she shows up each day.

A skill she’s especially proud to bring to this role is her adaptability and empathy. She meets each child where they’re at and supports them with patience, flexibility, and heart. 💛

What she loves most about working with kids so far? Watching their personalities shine and seeing their confidence grow. Those moments are everything.

Outside of the clinic, Katyana loves to bake 🧁 (and yes… we definitely appreciate when she shares!).

When asked why she’s excited to be part of this team, she said she’s grateful to work alongside such a driven, kind, and respectful group — and we feel so lucky to say the same about her.

And one thing she hopes families know? She is truly honored to be part of your child’s journey.

We’re so lucky to have you, Katyana. 🌱💚
