Lately I’ve been pushing myself to integrate more phonological awareness tasks into my sessions. I love the 💡moments kiddos have as they make connections between the sounds they hear and the words those sounds create when pieced together!

This kiddo was working on Fronting with /k/ in the final position of words. He had difficulty understand the concept of his target sound being at the beginning vs end of words. The train was a great visual to help with this concept!

Today we used the minimal pairs deck from to target Fronting. This cutie loved practicing her target words as the marbles raced down the marble run! Thank you, for always supplying me with the best therapy supplies! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Fishin’ for speech sounds! Kids are much more engaged and learn better when they’re ON. THE. MOVE. I’m thankful that has the perfect turtle steps to keep my kiddos motivated to work hard during therapy 🎣

Who would have thought smashing cups would be so motivating?! 😂

This kiddo got to jump up and smash each cup with his feet after practicing his phrase and target word on the bottom of each cup. Thankful for the help of our handy, dandy sound cues for additional visual support!

Most of my kiddo’s goals target speech sound errors, but I sure do love a good language-building activity!

This little friend was working on labeling animals while following directions to hide the elephant’s leaves in specific areas of the zoo. 🙈🐘🍃

El Salvador Part 2:

Many of these images depict patients who have undergone initial cleft lip surgeries and are now in need of cleft palate repairs to improve speech and feeding abilities. They have experienced pain, suffering, and social isolation - yet came to us with eagerness and gratitude.

I am immensely thankful to have had the opportunity to love and serve these families and pray that the small role we’ve played in their lives greatly improves the futures that lie ahead for them.

El Salvador Part 1:

Over the past two days, our team of surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses have repaired about 15 cleft lip and palates. I have been amazed at how resilient and brave these kids and families are as they trust us to complete these life-changing procedures.

I’m incredibly thankful to have this opportunity to comfort families prior to surgery and provide speech therapy and education to families post-op.
