Today is National Elder LGBT recognition day. 🏳️‍🌈❤️🧡💛💚💙
We had a discussion led by a resident volunteer in the LGBT community and a reception with homemade specialty created pride cookies from Allegretti's Bakery. This day honors those who have paved the way for those in the LGBT community. Those in attendance left with a pride sticker they can wear to show their support.

The energy preparing for the upcoming ”Senior Prom” at Concord Place Retirement and Assisted Living Community is palpable. We were so lucky to have YWCA Elgin Cinderella’s Closet donate dresses. Many others have also donated dresses and jewelry. We had a sneak peek event yesterday. We had many women say “yes to the dress”. We had a resident say…
“This prom gives something meaningful to my life, something that hasn't happened in awhile” ❤️🥰. We also had Kristin Plansky who is a professional artist come and work with residents to make backdrop for our “Starry Starry night “ theme. Can’t wait for the big event May 24th. Jackie McGreevy is coming to help do hair and make up. Irene McGreevy. Proviso Mathematics and Science Academy is coming to help decorate and have students attend in their prom attire and dance with our residents. The buzz and energy is so awesome!

We had a great time going to Tom’s steakhouse this week. We enjoyed the yummy steaks and good company. Was nice to be out after several months with no outings due to COVID. Thanks to the staff at the restaurant for making it a wonderful outing.

Happy Mother’s Day to all! 💐We celebrated on Friday with a special luncheon. Prime rib, shrimp and mimosas 🥂were served. We had live music 🎶 and flowers 🌸 were given to all the women. We also had famous mother’s trivia with gift card prizes and reflections of Mother’s reading was done by our wonderful administrator Fran. It was a good time had by all.

Please feel free to share this … Let’s make this happen! 🤩I have mentioned previously we are doing a prom at Concord Place Retirement and Assisted Living Community on Tuesday May 24th 7-9pm. The donations came in big time for females. We have tons of dresses and jewelry. Now we need to make these men feel dapper. Do you have any dress pants, collared shirts, ties, bow ties, hats, mens shoes or sport coats you want to get rid off? Send me a message if you have any donations! Special thanks to Debbie Harding

We would like to say a special thank you to our nurses today. It is National Nurse Day. Thank you to Suzi and Peter for all they do for our residents.

Suzi has been a long term dedicated nursing leader at Concord Place. She is one of the most patient, even keeled and hard working nurses around. Peter is new to the team and we are so glad to have him onboard.

Today we would like to showcase another special resident volunteer at Concord Place. Cheryl has been and is the director of the up coming theatre production. She is the current resident club president and helps in the resale shop. She volunteers leading many activities including exercise and trivia. She is the committee chair person for our upcoming senior prom. She is kind and patient to everyone she comes across. Concord Place appreciates all she and the other volunteers do to make Concord Place a wonderful place.
