The FDA has released new guidance for providers prescribing compounded GLP-1s for weight loss. After careful review, OBGYN of West Alabama will no longer be able to provide weight loss management with compounded GLP-1s. We are aware that other providers in the community might choose to continue to prescribe compounded GLP-1s. We believe this contrary to what the latest FDA directive dictates. Our decision is not based on any concern for the quality or safety of the medication that we have prescribed previously. It is solely based on our interpretation of the latest FDA statement. We apologize for any inconvenience this will cause and thank you for your loyalty to our practice.
