***CAREGIVER SPOTLIGHT***
Jill Parrott, SLP
Speech Therapist
Tuscaloosa, AL
“I graduated from the University of Alabama in 2006 and have spent nearly 20 years serving patients in the home health setting with Amedisys. One of the things I love most about being a speech-language pathologist is the extra time I’m able to spend with my patients—really getting to know them so I can provide care on a more personal level.
While many people think of speech therapy as only helping with talking, I’ve been blessed to work with patients facing a wide range of challenges, including neurological conditions such as ALS, Parkinson’s disease, and MS, as well as stroke recovery, dementia, head and neck cancer, voice disorders, and swallowing difficulties. Some of the most rewarding moments of my career have been helping a patient speak meaningful words to their loved ones again after a stroke, or watching someone enjoy food and drink after no longer needing a feeding tube. I truly feel it’s a privilege to do what I do every day, and my guiding motto has always been to treat every patient the way I would want my own mom or dad to be treated—with kindness, respect, and compassion.
Outside of work, I’ve been married to my husband, Scott, for 18 years, and together we’re raising our two children, Grant (13) and Allie (8). Our goldendoodle, Mac, is 4 years old, thinks he’s human, and definitely keeps life fun. As a family, we love spending time at the beach and enjoying just about any kind of sport.”
Please help us recognize the outstanding contributions that Jill has made in the community we serve. Through expertise, compassion, and dedication, she consistently provides high-quality, patient-centered care that makes a lasting impact. Her ability to support patients in regaining communication skills and confidence in daily life is truly commendable. We deeply appreciate her commitment to excellence and the positive difference she brings to the patients and families she serves.
