👁️ EMDR is an evidence-based therapy that helps the brain process distressing experiences so they feel less overwhelming.

Through gentle bilateral stimulation (eye movements, tapping, or sound), EMDR supports the nervous system in:

• reducing emotional intensity
• shifting negative beliefs
• increasing insight
• promoting adaptive healing

Often, what once felt “stuck” begins to feel more manageable.

EMDR may help with:
• trauma
• anxiety
• panic
• intrusive memories
• negative beliefs about self
• distressing life events

Healing is possible ~ and you don’t have to revisit everything alone.

Reach out to learn whether EMDR could be a good fit.

✨ We love the work we get to do with kids and emerging adults in our community. Supporting growth, confidence, and emotional wellbeing across developmental stages is at the heart of what we value at PCS.

Today, PCS clinician Jamie is leading a children’s yoga class in collaboration with the Northville Youth Network:

🌟 From Stillness to Strength: Waking Up Our Inner Light
A playful and grounding yoga & mindfulness experience helping kids build focus, resilience, and self-awareness.

Coming up soon, PCS clinician Brooke will be offering a workshop series for emerging adults navigating the exciting — and sometimes challenging — transition into adulthood.

🎓 Navigating Emerging Adulthood
A supportive space to explore identity, direction, goals, and life skills while building confidence for what’s next.

We are honored to partner with families and community organizations to support emotional wellness at every stage of life 💛

Two weeks ago we began Part One of a training led by PCS founder, Dr. John Mlinarcik, as we move closer to celebrating 50 years of service at PCS Counseling.

As PCS continues to grow and expand, our clinicians are engaging in ongoing learning around the Behavioral Styles Profile (BSP) ~ a behavioral assessment tool grounded in current developments and research. For some clinicians this was an introduction to the BSP, while for others it served as a deeper continuation of training and application.

The BSP was developed by Dr. John and inspired by models used to train more than 500,000 individuals across 47 states and 14 countries. The assessment helps identify behavioral patterns in daily life and how individuals respond during moments of stress.

When teams utilize the BSP, it can create a shared framework that strengthens communication, builds a common language, and helps teams better understand how people respond to stress in the workplace.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to continue strengthening our clinical skills and expanding the tools we use to support the individuals and families we serve.

Thank you to Dr. John for sharing his expertise and helping guide our team forward 💛

✨ More to come ~ stay tuned as we continue training tomorrow.

😴 Sleep isn’t a luxury, it’s a strategy.

😵‍💫 When we’re not sleeping well, anxiety increases, mood becomes more reactive, and emotional regulation gets harder. Racing thoughts tend to get louder at night when the world gets quiet.

😌 Quality sleep strengthens:
• Stress tolerance
• Emotional regulation
• Clear thinking
• Nervous system balance

If insomnia or nighttime anxiety are impacting your well-being, therapy can help you address the root causes, not just the symptoms.

✨ We’re so grateful for Brooke and for the depth, warmth, and intention she brings to her work. 💛

She specializes in supporting adolescents and young adults (ages 10–28), with a strong focus on adolescent sexual trauma and assault recovery. Brooke understands that the teen and young adult years come with complex emotional shifts, identity exploration, and life transitions ~ and she creates a space where clients feel safe, respected, and truly seen.

Her areas of specialty include:
• Adolescent sexual trauma recovery
• Navigating life transitions & the challenges of growing up
• Identity exploration & authentic self-discovery
• Emotion regulation & building inner resilience

Brooke provides affirming, inclusive care for individuals exploring gender, sexuality, and identity. Her approach blends trauma-informed care with psychodynamic and humanistic perspectives, while thoughtfully incorporating expressive and creative therapies.

🎨 As she continues her Art Therapy training, she integrates arts-based interventions to help clients access healing ~ especially when words feel hard to find.

We’re proud to offer this level of specialized, compassionate care to our adolescent and young adult community. ✨

✨ Community connection at Parent Camp! ✨

Our Clinical Director and Clinical Therapist had such a meaningful time attending the
Parent Camp this weekend 💛

We connected with dozens of incredible local organizations, gathered resources for parents and families, talked mental health, and made some really great new relationships along the way.

There’s something special about being in a room full of people who all care about the same thing: supporting kids, families, and our community’s well-being.

We’re so grateful to be part of this event and the amazing work happening through Northville Education Foundation. Days like this remind us why we do what we do.

Thanks to those who stopped by to chat with us 👋 It was great to connect with you!
