Harbour Towne Health PLLC - Medical Assistant Job Description
Report to clinical coordinator or practice administrator
Assist patients to complete all necessary forms and documentation
Maintain and manage patient records
Medication Prior Authorizations.
Keep exam rooms cleaned, stocked with adequate medical supplies, exam tables and chairs sterilized upon rooming patients and at the end of every shift. Empty Trash, vacuum, mop and any other cleaning duties that apply to your area.
Interview patients and obtain essential data including but not limited to chief complain, past medical history, current medications (manage patient medication list and inactive old medications), review of systems, review of services due on a patient.
Measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and document all information in patient’s Electronic Medical Record
Perform nursing procedures under supervision of physician, physician assistant or nurse practitioner
Give instructions to patients as instructed by physician, physician assistant or nurse practitioner
Ensure all related reports, labs and information is available in patients’ electronic medical record prior to their appointment
Take telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to patient/physician/pharmacy calls
Triage and process messages from patients and Clerical office staff to physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners.
Maintaining a clean and sterile environment- clean bathrooms, exam rooms, lab area and provider area. Cleaning duties include but are not limited to dusting, vacuuming, mopping, sink and toilet cleaning ect.
Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow
The ability to perform phlebotomy and administer injections
Answer incoming calls and deal with inquiries
Schedule patient appointments
Attach documentation to patients Electronic Health Record
Maintain stock of forms and office supplies
Safeguard patient privacy and confidentiality
Collect Laboratory Specimens
Refilling and maintaining prescription requests
Tracking and addressing patient quality items such as HEDIS, PCMH, etc.
All other duties as assigned by clinical coordinator or practice administrator
