8 years ago today I launched my first Moonlight Magic website through BigCartel 🥹 I think back to the girl who listened completely to her intuition/guides and I’m in awe of what was created.
I had no idea how to make candles… I felt called for weeks to go into a shop which always seemed to be closed every time I tried to go, but miraculously the last time it was open. The shop owner asked if I knew of someone or if by chance I made soy candles and I swear something spoke through me to say that I did. I DIDN’T. I didn’t even know the difference between a soy and paraffin candle. Yet, I had just told this women that “yes I do! And of course I can bring you some samples!” 😵💫 I walked out of the store and immediately googled “how do you make soy candles?” 😂 I ordered the first kit I found and awaited for the supplies to arrive. I remember making them in my lil apartment in Amherst, while everyone was out partying. To my surprise the candle came out good, so much so that everyone who came back was drunkenly amazed at what I had created as well.
As days went by I was encouraged to build a website. I remember sitting at my retail job I had started about a week prior doodling names, scents, logos. I was already creating labels and if you’re an OG you remember my logo with the chakras in the moon. The thing is, at the time I felt so out of place, I looked around at everyone going to school and felt ashamed that it wasn’t for me. I remember for awhile I felt like “just a candle maker”.. no one was doing what I was doing. I wish I could’ve told myself THAT’S your magic!
Just 20 years old and starting your own business, marketing, customer service, branding. It takes so much work to start a business, create a product and then put it out into the world. I didn’t even realize how amazing that was. But now I’m so proud to be a candle maker, even if I haven’t made one in almost two years. It’s like riding a bike, I don’t think it’s something I could ever forget. Matter of fact I think all along I had this ancient wisdom stored in me to do this. So much of it was seamless.
If you’re reading this you’re probably here because of the candles and for that I’m grateful. Moonlight Magic has become so many things over the years and the support from my customers and clients is what kept me going for so long. I am eternally thankful for every order placed, candle burned and post shared 🥹 thank you for being here all these years and supporting my small, but magical business 💗🌿🕯️
