Magnolia Connection

Magnolia Connection Brain health clinic providing psychological testing, therapy and medication management services for children and young adults.

Helping your child discover their strengths and the possibilities for a bright future is at the heart of our practice. Built on a foundation of love, compassion, trust, and professionalism, Magnolia Connection fosters relationships, healing, and growth. Our mental health services are tailored to fit the lives of busy families right here in our own community. For some parents, this may be the first

step in getting answers and starting on a new path. For others, their child may have been previously treated with medications or other targeted interventions, yet progress is not being made as anticipated. Regardless of where you or your child are in this process, we are here to help.

School’s out, feelings are in. 🌿

The end of the school year can bring excitement, relief, exhaustion, and big emotions all at once. Even when kids are looking forward to summer, the change in routine can still feel overwhelming.

A few reminders as your family transitions into summer:

1. Expect a few bumpy days
Transitions take time. It is okay if things feel off at first.

2. Keep one or two daily anchors
Simple routines around meals, bedtime, or quiet time can bring comfort and stability.

3. Offer choices when you can
Small choices help kids feel more in control and may reduce power struggles.

4. Build in decompression time
Unstructured time, downtime, and rest are essential.

5. Remember that behavior is communication
Look beneath the behavior to find the need.

A little patience and connection can go a long way this summer.

Heading into summer? 🌞

Summer can bring fun, freedom, and more time together, but it can also bring changes in routine, big emotions, boredom, sibling conflict, and extra stress for parents.

A few simple ways to support kids through the summer transition:

1. Keep a loose routine
Simple anchors like wake time, meals, and bedtime can help children feel more secure.

2. Make space for feelings
Transitions can bring excitement, boredom, and big emotions. Name feelings, stay curious, and remind your child that all feelings are welcome.

3. Balance activity and rest
Plan a mix of outdoor play, quiet time, creativity, and connection throughout the week.

4. Lower the pressure
You do not need to fill every moment. Small, connected moments often matter most.

You do not have to make summer perfect to make it meaningful. 🌿

Meet Heather Monaghan, LMHC, and Tucker! 🌿

Heather provides adult therapy support in a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients can feel heard, supported, and empowered as they move through life’s challenges.

She enjoys working with adults navigating depression, anxiety, grief, adjustment issues, relationship challenges, and betrayal trauma. Heather is also trained in EMDR and grief-informed counseling, allowing her to tailor support to each client’s unique needs and healing journey.

And yes, Tucker, her therapy dog in training, may be there too, offering a little extra comfort and calm along the way. 🐾

Mental health struggles do not define who you are. They are something you experience, and support can help you move through them.

To get started, visit our website or contact Magnolia Connection today.

For some people, traditional antidepressants don’t provide enough relief, and that can feel discouraging.

But there are other options.

Spravato® is an FDA-approved treatment designed for adults with treatment-resistant depression and is helping many people find hope again as part of a comprehensive care plan.

At Magnolia Connection, we believe mental health care should include compassion, support, and access to innovative treatments when appropriate. 💚

You are not out of options. Hope is still possible.

We’re hiring a Clinic Operations Manager at Magnolia Connection!

We’re looking for a calm, relational, and solutions-focused leader to support our Ames and Norwalk clinics. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with people, managing day-to-day operations, supporting staff and providers, and helping create a smooth, well-run environment for both our team and our clients.

This is not just a behind-the-scenes logistics role. We’re looking for someone who can build relationships, think clearly under pressure, lead with professionalism and kindness, and step into the day-to-day realities of clinic life with confidence and flexibility.

Healthcare experience is helpful, but we know the right person may come from a variety of leadership or management backgrounds. Strong interpersonal skills, accountability, organization, and follow-through are essential.

What we offer:
• Full-time position serving both Ames and Norwalk
• Competitive pay with potential performance bonus
• Supportive, collaborative team environment
• Opportunity to make a meaningful impact in mental health care
