Ever scroll for so long that you stand up feeling foggy, drained or just off? 😮‍💨

There’s a name for that feeling online: “brain rot.” And while it’s not a medical term, the impact of too much screen time on your mind is very real.

Your brain is constantly taking in information from your devices. When it doesn’t get enough breaks, movement, real-world interaction or rest, it can leave you feeling unfocused, irritable and mentally worn out.

The good news? Your brain can bounce back faster than you think. Your brain deserves a healthy break. 💙📱✨

Lung cancer isn’t one-size-fits-all — and knowing the difference between the two main types can truly save lives. 💙

🔹 Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC): The most common type. When caught early, surgery is often an option.
🔹 Small cell lung cancer (SCLC): Less common, more aggressive, and typically treated with chemotherapy.

Understanding how these cancers develop and are treated is key to earlier detection and better outcomes.

Watch to learn more. 🎗️

November is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month. 💜

Pancreatic cancer is often called the “silent” cancer because symptoms can be vague — things like unexplained weight loss, jaundice, new-onset diabetes or persistent abdominal/back pain. That’s why awareness, early evaluation and knowing your risk factors matter so much.

At Norwalk Hospital, our care teams specialize in pancreatic cancer research for early detection, the latest personalized treatment plans and whole-person support for patients and families.

This month, and always, we stand with those facing pancreatic cancer and thank those working so hard to find a cure.

This month, we are thankful for the ability to move as we age. ✨

Movement supports independence, confidence and the freedom to enjoy the moments that matter most during the holidays.

Dr. Jason Friedman, sports medicine, and Dr. Jodi Friedman, geriatric medicine, are sharing simple and safe exercises you or your loved one can try at home to stay strong, steady and confident throughout the season. ✨💙

Dr. Philip Gilbo is sharing an important reminder this .👇

PSA screening is a valuable tool for early detection — but it can also be confusing. An elevated PSA doesn’t always signal prostate cancer. Levels can rise from age, infection, inflammation or even recent activity… so a high number alone doesn’t tell the whole story.

That’s why screening shouldn’t stop at PSA. ✅

When needed, providers may also use MRI imaging, digital re**al exams or a prostate biopsy to get a clearer, more accurate picture.

Using these methods together helps catch cancer early without leading to unnecessary procedures or worry.

Dr. Gilbo encourages men to start the conversation, ask questions and understand their personal risks. The best screening plan is the one tailored to you. 💙

Goals shape our lives — not just in the New Year, but every season. ✨

As we head into the holidays and start thinking about 2026, it’s easy to wait for the “right” time to reset, restart or get motivated. But real growth doesn’t need a countdown or a calendar flip. Momentum starts now — in small choices and tiny moments you build on day after day.

Dr. Herrick, chair of psychiatry, shares practical, research-backed strategies for setting goals that stick, even when life feels busy. Think realistic steps, visible progress, supportive accountability and using SMART goals to turn good intentions into sustainable success.

Whether you’re focusing on your well-being, career, relationships or personal routines, here’s your sign to start where you are and build forward — one step at a time.

Ready to set goals you can actually keep? Let’s do this together. 💙

Movember is a global movement dedicated to changing the face of men’s health — literally. 👨🏼‍🦰

Every November, men grow mustaches to spark conversation, raise awareness and drive action around three key areas:

✅ Prostate cancer
✅ Testicular cancer
✅ Men's mental health & su***de prevention

The idea is simple: grow a Mo, save a bro. The mustache starts the conversation. The action saves lives.

Funds raised support research, early detection programs, mental health resources and community initiatives — all designed to help men live longer, healthier, happier lives.

This year, we’re asking you to do two things: grow the mustache and take care of yourself. Grow a Mo to start the dialogue, stand up for men’s health and show support for the cause — then follow through by booking the check-up you’ve been meaning to schedule.

Participating publicly matters. Prioritizing your personal health matters just as much.

If you don’t have a primary care provider, Nuvance Health has physicians across the Hudson Valley and Western Connecticut currently accepting new patients. 👇🏼

As a society, we are definitely in a protein era right now. And in many ways, that’s a good thing. Strength training is trending, the conversation has shifted from restriction to fueling and more people want to feel strong. All great things. 💪✨

But like every wellness trend, the pendulum can swing too far...

Protein powder in coffee, cereal, cookies and chips. 2+ shakes a day becoming normal. “High-protein” being marketed as a health badge.

Here’s the thing: even the most powerful nutrient isn’t meant to stand alone. Most bodies thrive on balance — real meals, real variety, real nourishment. Protein supports strength. Balanced nutrition builds it.

You don’t have to be a “smoker” to impact your lungs. 🚭

Maybe you only have a cigarette socially. Maybe your partner or friends smoke. Maybe you're around smoke at bars, events or gatherings.

It still counts — and it still matters.

Lung cancer is the #1 cause of cancer-related deaths, and you don’t have to smoke daily (or at all) for your lungs to feel the impact.

Dr. Byron Patton reminds us that even occasional or secondhand exposure increases risk — including “social” smoking and va**ng. Secondhand smoke, stress-only smoking and “social only” va**ng all count as real exposure.

This isn’t about judgment — it’s about awareness and prevention. Your lungs support you every day. Caring for them is one of the most meaningful investments you can make. 🤍🫁

The clocks changed, but so will your body and mind. 🕰️

This week, move through your days and nights with intention:

🌞 Step outside early to remind your brains what time it is.
💧 Drink water before coffee to wake up gently.
📵 Avoid screens first thing in the morning.
🥚 Choose morning fuel that lasts instead of a quick sugar rush.
🚶‍♀️ Move in the morning.
🕯️ Use soft light in the evening to cue “wind down."
📅 Keep sleep and wake times the same.
🫖 Make your bedtime ritual feel luxurious.
