Grain bowls are one of my favorite non-recipe meals. They are simple and can be made with leftovers and/or convenience products.

Here's how to build a satisfying grain bowl.

-The grains: whole grains are good here but any grain will do
-The protein: grain bowls are great with seafood and baked tofu
-The fat: fat is really important to keep us full and add flavor. Think oils, dressings and dairy
-The pizzazz: don't forget to add something crunchy or flavorful so it keeps you satisfied!

One of the best compliments a client has given me about a cooking class I taught…

"You did a great job--authentic, relatable, dynamic, educational."

I've learned what I know about cooking through trial and error. Through working in professional kitchens. By listening to chefs when they yell (just kidding) or coach me gently.

I've always prided myself on not going to culinary school. Weird I know. But I think it has made a better cooking instructor and dietitian.
