It is with deep sadness
I have to post that retired Sgt Mark Mahoney lost his battle with cancer at 3:15 pm today.

When funeral arrangements become known I will post them.

I like many other Rookie Officers were assigned to the Post next to Mark so we could learn from one of the best.

Rest easy my friend. I m sorry I made your assignment difficult at times. But, oh did we have some fun.

I just received a message that Bob Curry is in Hospice and not expected to survive the night. Please keep Bob and Laura in your prayers.

Fellow Retires. May 1, 2021 will be the one year Anniversary of the passing of Frank Tyszka. Due to COVID we were not able to say a proper farewell to one of our own. I know it would be comforting to Frank s family to see how loved and respected he was. If possible take a few hours to pay your respects and share a few Frank and Duke stories.

Forwarding a Facebook Post from Sgt Wayne Henion (Ret. )

It is with a Heavy Heart I must tell my friends at the Norwalk Police Department of the passing of my long time friend, partner and fellow LEO - Steve Kvance. Steve started his career in 1961, at the same time my dad became a Police Officer. I grew up knowing Steve, and later had the privilege of working with him on the Marine Police Patrol. He had a vast knowledge of the Norwalk Harbor and Islands, and knew where many of those "floating rocks" had come to rest. Crew members affectionately know exactly where Kvance's Rocks are located. I am awaiting word on funeral arrangements and will forward information when it becomes available. Steve's Son and wife predeceased him. Rest well, my friend....

I want to post an update for retired Officer Frank Tyszka. He had surgery to repair his broken arm that went well. He was in good spirits yesterday and was transferred to Ludlow Rehab in Fairfield.

To those of you who have called Frank appreciates your calls and concern. He will be at the rehab for probably at least the next week. Call and visits will provide a welcome distraction and help keep his spirits high.

Happy New Years to all.

To all. Retired Officer Frank Tyszka, who is battling cancer, fell last night at home. He broke his upper arm and is currently at Norwalk Hospital. He may require surgery and will likely be there for several days. He is in room #607. I m sure he could use some visitors to help keep his spirits up.

Attention to All. We are looking for relatives of the late Former Police Officer Rudy Costa. I believe that Brother Costa retired as an Inspector many years ago.

We are looking for Rudy's family because the Norwalk High School Alumni Association has selected him to the Norwalk High School Wall of Honor. The selection is going to be announced on September 13, 2017 at 5pm at the Alumni Picnic being held at Cranbury Park. Further, there will be a formal Award Dinner on September 17, 2017.

If anyone knows the whereabouts of any Relatives of Rudy Costa please contact me here or contact Madeline Randall in Chief Kulhawik's Office at 203-854-3054.

Jim
