Outstanding efforts!

Yesterday, members of Local 830 Norwalk Firefighters, presented Tunnel to Towers Foundation with a donation raised from our St Patrick day and Breast cancer awareness t-shirt drives. T2T assumed two of our fallen members mortgages. We our forever grateful and we will continue to give back to an organization that has given to us so generously.

Throwback Thursday! Who remembers the Tot Finder window stickers?

While the Fire Marshal's officials do not recommend the use of these stickers any longer, there are things you can do to ensure quick escape from *every* bedroom in the home:

๐Ÿš’ Make a plan! Inspect all possible exits and escape routes.

๐Ÿš’ Make sure the escape routes are clear and doors and windows can be opened easily.

๐Ÿš’ Choose an outside meeting place (i.e. neighbor's house, a light post, mailbox, or stop sign) a safe distance in front of your home.

๐Ÿš’ Be fully prepared for a real fire: when a smoke alarm sounds, get out immediately.

๐Ÿš’ Tell guests or visitors to your home about your family's fire escape plan.

๐Ÿšฉ Red Flag Warning Remains in Effect: Extreme Fire Danger in Connecticut ๐Ÿšฉ

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ The Norwalk Fire Marshal Division is reminding residents that Connecticut remains at VERY HIGH to EXTREME fire risk, with no forecasted rainfall over the next week.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ The ban on the use of outdoor grills, firepits, and campfires, and the kindling and use of flame outdoors in all state parks, forests, and wildlife management areas due to statewide severe fire weather conditions remains in effect.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ We are calling on every resident and visitor to recognize the power of their actions in these conditions. Preventing wildfires isnโ€™t only about personal safetyโ€”itโ€™s about protecting our neighbors, our communities, and the first responders risking their lives to keep us safe.

The vast majority of Connecticutโ€™s wildfires result from human activities. In these conditions, even a small spark from the following can ignite a wildfire:

๐Ÿ”ฅ Discarded smoking materials
๐Ÿ”ฅ ATV and UTV activity especially without spark arresters
๐Ÿ”ฅ Dragging trailer chains
๐Ÿ”ฅ Use of outdoor grills
๐Ÿ”ฅ Campfires
๐Ÿ”ฅ Power tools and equipment that generate heat or sparks

๐Ÿ”ฅ *OPEN BURN RED FLAG WARNING*

** The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning for fire danger for all of Connecticut on Wednesday. **

๐Ÿ”ฅ The warning is in effect from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m.

๐Ÿ”ฅ "DEEP cautions the public as we respond to multiple active fires across Connecticut. With extremely dry conditions and a Red Flag Warning in effect, the risk of fire spread is high," DEEP officials said.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Winds will pick up on Wednesday, adding to the danger. They are expected to be 10 to 15 mph with gusts to 30 mph, according to the NWS. Any fire that starts is likely to catch and spread quickly.
