๐ฉ Red Flag Warning Remains in Effect: Extreme Fire Danger in Connecticut ๐ฉ
๐ฉ๐ฉ The Norwalk Fire Marshal Division is reminding residents that Connecticut remains at VERY HIGH to EXTREME fire risk, with no forecasted rainfall over the next week.
๐ฉ๐ฉ The ban on the use of outdoor grills, firepits, and campfires, and the kindling and use of flame outdoors in all state parks, forests, and wildlife management areas due to statewide severe fire weather conditions remains in effect.
๐ฉ๐ฉ We are calling on every resident and visitor to recognize the power of their actions in these conditions. Preventing wildfires isnโt only about personal safetyโitโs about protecting our neighbors, our communities, and the first responders risking their lives to keep us safe.
The vast majority of Connecticutโs wildfires result from human activities. In these conditions, even a small spark from the following can ignite a wildfire:
๐ฅ Discarded smoking materials
๐ฅ ATV and UTV activity especially without spark arresters
๐ฅ Dragging trailer chains
๐ฅ Use of outdoor grills
๐ฅ Campfires
๐ฅ Power tools and equipment that generate heat or sparks
