Here is a message from Jennifer about her journey to becoming a massage therapist and a little bit about her.
"I have been aware of the healing power of touch at an early age when I would massage my mother who was chronically ill. She would immediately relax and enter a peaceful, restful state and I could feel her body melting under my little hands. She would always tell me I should become a massage therapist when I grow up.
In 2017 I traveled to Jamaica and studied to become a 200 hr Kemetic yoga teacher. In 2019, I continued my studies with Tisha Kaufman Bremner at The Inner Light School of Yoga in Lewiston, earning 200 more hrs of yoga teacher training.
In 2022, I started working as a personal support specialist working with elderly and disabled clients for FirstLight Homecare. Again, experiencing the power of massage with some of my clients who had aches and pains or simply just needed to be soothed by a reassuring touch. This is when I remembered my mother's words and decided to take a leap and listen to my calling.
In January 2023 I began the rigorous 750 hour massage therapy program at New Hampshire Institute for Therapeutic Arts in Harrison, ME, earning my hands on hours at Dr. Knopp’s chiropractic office in South Paris. Upon graduation a year later, I have been blessed to be able to continue working with some of my favorite clients and have also been working at the Jordan Spa at Sunday River learning more spa techniques.
My favorite part of being a massage therapist is being able to help people shift their energy, mood and state of being during each session. Watching clients come in stiff, sore, achy, in pain, and seeing them leave with a smile on their face, and greater ease of movement. It’s like pushing a reset button, letting all that go and starting over. It’s amazing what a little relaxation can do for the body.
I enjoy supporting my clients as they make positive changes to their daily habits and ways of thinking to make their lives happier, healthier and bring greater awareness to their bodies. Massage therapy is self care, and self care is the best preventative medicine!
In addition to massage therapy, I am also happy to work with clients one on one teaching them different exercises and stretches they can do to maintain the progress we achieve during our massage session.
When I’m not out in the world helping others achieve their wellness goals, I love spending time with my supportive husband and our three beautiful children. What a gift it is to help them learn and watch them grow into amazing human beings! I learn so much from them and am grateful to have them as my teachers too!"
