We are thrilled to announce that, as seen in this week’s Boston Business Journal, Cathy and Rick Roche contributed $1 million to NVNA and Hospice's fundraising campaign focused on expanding patient care access across the 27 communities we serve.

Thank you to the Roche family for their remarkable generosity and ongoing support of our mission, spanning more than a decade.

Roche Bros. co-owner Rick Roche donated $1 million to NVNA and Hospice, providing a "significant boost" to the nonprofit.

Although it is still summer, college move-in is just a few short weeks away for many students. This year, NVNA and Hospice was proud to award the NVNA and Hospice Nursing Scholarship to three graduating Norwell High School seniors set to pursue nursing degrees. We are honored to support Norwell as our organization's founding town.

Pictured are Director of Home Care Melissa Thompson, RN, left, and CEO Renee McInnes, RN, right, with scholarship recipients William Lemoine, Ben Nguyen, and Avery Nickerson.

We wish William, Ben, Avery, and the rest of our community's graduates the very best as they begin this exciting new chapter!

This past June, the NVNA and Hospice Charitable Fund Board of Trustees welcomed Jake Krilovich, Executive Director of the Home Care Alliance of Massachusetts, to their quarterly meeting to discuss the opportunities and challenges for home care and hospice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

"As we advocate for better access to care for patients in their homes across the state, I am inspired to see a Board so dedicated to making a difference through philanthropy," said Jake. “This is a critical time for the industry.”

NVNA and Hospice CEO Renee McInnes currently serves as Chair of the Board of Directors for the Home Care Alliance of Massachusetts.

We are honored to have received a Silver Lamplighter Award from The New England Society for Healthcare Communications (NESHCo). These awards annually recognize the outstanding achievements and campaigns produced in healthcare communications across New England.

In October 2024, NVNA and Hospice’s weeklong awareness campaign led by CEO Renee McInnes educated the community about the differences between Medicare Advantage and Original Medicare.

The campaign, which included ads in The Boston Sunday Globe and The Patriot Ledger, a PSA video, and four appearances on local and national radio shows, occurred in advance of the Medicare open enrollment period. With a goal of bringing awareness to the challenges posed by Medicare Advantage plans, the campaign empowered consumers to make informed choices and ensure their access to quality care.

Our Dementia Caregiving Specialist, Joan Wright, shares her second tip for National Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month: managing stress.

This is the most important factor in caregiving, as high levels of stress can actually exacerbate cognitive decline. Create a caregiving plan by listing tasks for yourself, your loved one, and your household to organize responsibilities. In some situations, it is useful to let go of some control and allow others to help.

Thank you to the 600 guests who joined us at our annual fundraising dinner, The 12, last week. As we seek to increase hospice care access for all, this event is an inspiring reminder of our community’s outstanding support for our non-profit mission.

With gratitude to our co-chairs Tracy and Jason Clifford, our event committee, and vocalist Chrissi Poland for their contributions to a beautiful evening. The generosity under the tent was remarkable: $550,000 and counting.
