Last week, from September 8th to 12th, during Direct Support Professionals Appreciation Week, members of Springbrook’s Executive Team, Human Resources, and Marketing traveled across the region, from Oneonta to Sidney, Binghamton, and Norwich, to thank Direct Support Professionals with an appreciation gift. 💙

A sweet highlight: The Scoop in Whitney Point, NY, provided delicious treats, from coffee to ice cream, as a way to show even more gratitude for DSPs! 🍦☕

Smiles, laughter, and great conversation could be found all across the regions as Springbrook celebrated the incredible dedication and compassion of Direct Support Professionals. 🙌

Springbrook is proud to support the Oneonta Out of the Darkness Walk (OOTD) on Saturday, September 13th, joining thousands nationwide in bringing hope and raising awareness for su***de prevention 💙.

A special shout-out to Art Therapist Tiffany Brzenk and her students, whose inspiring design won the AFSP 2025 T-shirt contest! Their artwork—created from the voices of 43 students—will be featured on shirts ($22) and sweatshirts ($40) sold at GCNY walks this weekend.

Today, we celebrate Rielly H***e, Assistant Residential Manager at Johnston Circle, for reaching his 5-year milestone with Springbrook! Rielly began his journey with limited experience in the field, but quickly discovered the true heart of the work, which was building genuine connections with the people he supports.

One of his most powerful lessons came early on: that the people he serves are not defined by limitations, but by their personalities, passions, and goals, just like anyone else. This realization reshaped his career path and strengthened his commitment to making a difference every day.

Rielly shares this advice for new team members:
“Ask questions, never assume, and leave your ego at the door. You don’t know what you’re getting into until you’re doing it, but this work will change you for the better. Dive in, seek mentorship, and remember this is more than a job—it’s a life choice.”

Today, we celebrate Mandy VanWormer, Training Coordinator, for reaching her 10-year milestone at Springbrook! In her role, Mandy guides new employees as they begin their journey, helping them learn how to approach their work with compassion, patience, and understanding. Her ability to connect with others and share her experience has had a lasting impact on countless staff members and the people they support.
