Rural New York is not starting from scratch. Programs like NYSARH’s OARS Program, NY Connects, local Area Agencies on Aging, and statewide tools like the Virtual Senior Center are helping reduce isolation, build awareness, and connect older adults with support. That is what stigma reduction looks like in practice.

Stigma can keep older adults and families from reaching out for help. One way to change that is simple: talk about mental health the same way we talk about any other part of health, with respect, honesty, and compassion.

💜 May is Women’s Health Awareness Month!

At Chenango Health Network, we’re proud to support women across our rural communities by connecting them to the information, resources, and services they need to prioritize their health and well-being.

Women’s health is more than just doctor visits — it’s about knowledge, access, prevention, and support at every stage of life. Whether it’s navigating insurance, finding community resources, or learning about key health topics, we’re here to help.

This month, we encourage every woman to:
^Learn about preventive health screenings
^Prioritize mental and emotional wellness
^Understand your health insurance options
^Build a support network in your community

We provide free, confidential help with health insurance enrollment, resolving insurance issues, and connecting to local care through our Community Health Advocates.
