Such a great reminder for me to read this morning. As the first to rise in a house full of people, I quickly start my routine of planning/cruise-boat-activity-directing/blah-blah-blah….nonsense! I headed to the beach instead. Easy strolling, filling my heart with ocean air, and giving myself the luxury of the un-doing feel like a long-lost friend.
Set boundaries around your self-care if you are feeling overwhelmed. It’s very important to know when it's time to step back from the old, from engagement in order to get your balance back. When we're out of balance, all kinds of stuff goes on; we're stressed, we're overwhelmed, we're reactive. But when we have a balance, whether it's through meditation or exercise or just tending to the things that you like to do each day - for me, it can literally be 10 minutes outside with a tree and breathing - it can be so many different, simple things.
So, observe your state and keep an eye on yourself, especially if you are someone who is helping a lot of people right now because as I said, the collective has gone through a really rough couple of years and we're still coming out of it. Make sure you're looking after yourself and filling yourself back up, especially if you are someone who is very used to giving to others.
