Congratulations to Backus Hospital Public Safety Officer Ron Lemire who was presented with the Healthcare Hero Award at the Connecticut Hospital Association Annual Meeting earlier this week.

Lemire was recognized for his actions that saved a life when he swiftly administering Narcan to an individual who was experiencing an opioid overdose outside of the hospital’s emergency department.

Thank you Ron and all of our Public Safety Officers who help keep our patients and colleagues safe every day.

Congratulations to the graduates of the Project Search Class of 2025 (wearing blue sashes) John, JT, Shiloh, Sharod and Anna!

These outstanding individuals have worked hard over the past 9 months interning in various departments at Backus Hospital to gain vital job experience to help them succeed in future career opportunities. They’ve learned important skills like working a cash register, cleaning patient rooms, and serving food in the cafeteria and some of them already have jobs lined up.

Thank you to the team United Cerebral Palsy of Eastern CT for partnering with us on this program.

We can see bright paths ahead for these amazing graduates!

**Due to the forecast, the event will be moved to the front entrance of Backus Hospital**

10 am–1:30 pm

This free event is open to the public and includes:

• Free bicycle helmets (while supplies last)
• Fire truck and ambulance tours
• Safe Kids car seat clinics
• Food and ice cream trucks
• And much more!

Backus Hospital has once again received an “A” grade from The Leapfrog Group for quality and safety. This is the twelfth consecutive A the hospital has received going back to 2019.
