CT Leaders Critical Of New Federal Vaccine Guidelines

Read CTNewsJu**ie's report about Federal changes to childhood vaccinations by the US Health and Human Services Department.

Meanwhile local independent pharmacy owner, Greg McKenna of the Nutmeg Pharmacy Group that has 5 pharmacies serving towns and cities in Eastern Connecticut had this to say about the changes.

Greg McKenna - "It appears that a government right now that is over leveraged has decided to cut back on the cost of healthcare, while still allowing pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) to collect hundreds of billions of dollars in Pharmacy rebates that could be used to finance better healthcare. The US government has not chosen to streamline the budget by looking at other expenses that may not be as important to Americans as healthcare. I truly hope the state of Connecticut will at least maintain their steady hand in making sure that childhood immunizations remain in place. I am sure that the department of public health in the state of Connecticut feels that childhood immunizations are important and I support them as such. I cannot support the actions of the CDC and the actions of the US government to try to balance a budget at the expense of healthcare. The US government has to look and attack these Pharmacy benefit managers that are sapping precious dollars from the healthcare system dollars that could fund these vaccinations."

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimated this week that the flu has killed about 5,000 people so far this season.

Don't forget to stay hydrated in the cold weather.
Sounds like a strange thing to say, but you need to stay hydrated even in cold weather as well as warm, especially if you're sat at home in a well heated house. Take a look at how much water/fluids you should be consuming

There are many options for what to drink, but water is the best choice for most people who have access to safe drinking water. It is calorie-free and as easy to find as the nearest tap. Water helps…
