As 2020 comes to a close, I want to reach out to all of you to say THANK YOU for your support. I truly could not have made it through this year without your support-- financially, emotionally and professionally. I hope and pray that all of you and your family are healthy and safe from COVID 19.
2019
Reflecting back on end-of-year 2019, we had no idea of what challenges in our health and personal and professional lives. My massage practice was at an all time high and I was busier than ever before. My son was going to DC for a 4 month internship and I was looking forward to a celebratory vacation for his college graduation and my 60th birthday. We had no idea of what was around the corner just a few weeks away . . . .
2020
All of us were in shock, confused and full of anxiety of what would happen in March. Looking back, I am embarrassed that I innocently thought COVID- 19 would blow over in the 2 weeks I had voluntarily closed my office. I thought I would open back in April and carry on as normal. But as you know, I was not able to reopen until July, 2020. And although my clients have been encouraging to slow down and take a vacation, being out of work for 3.5 months was not the restful break you had hoped I would get. A glitch in the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance Program from State of Ohio which prevented me from getting any financial assistance (a technical issue that has still not been resolved) added to the stress. However, thanks to donations from clients, my small income from a part-time teaching job at Cincinnati State and support from family, I am still in business.
Safety Protocols Instituted:
I want to reiterate to you that due to the amped-up safety and health protocols I have instituted there have been no known instances of COVID-19 that have occurred to my clients or myself.
Thorough disinfection of all surfaces in my massage room, waiting room and bathroom
Air Purifier/filter running at all times
Ceiling fan is on to keep air circulating
And if no one else is in the building, I leave the door to my office open for increased air circulation
Clients complete and submit a COVID pre-screening form
Clients wash hands prior to entering massage room.
Masks REQUIRED for both the client and myself
Plenty of hand sanitizer, paper towels and liquid soap available (which I use frequently).
New Clients: Unless I am able to vet or have a personal recommendation from a current client/associate, I am not accepting random new clients who find me via an internet search. So if you have a parent/friend/family member who is interested in receiving a massage, please let me know.
Due to COVID-19, many of you have not felt comfortable returning to get your massages. I want you to feel safe and if getting a massage to reduce your stress is a stressful situation, then I want you to know that I respect that and honor your concerns and wishes. Please know that I will be here for you when you are ready to return.
2021
Many of you have asked me about the vaccine . . to date, I am not sure when I will be on the list to receive it. I will keep you posted as to that status. Of utmost importance, I want to make sure that the vaccine is available for the front-line employees, healthcare workers in medical status, teachers, men/women over 75 years of age, those with pre-existing conditions receive it asap.
In the meantime, rest assured, I will do what I can to keep myself and you healthy. I am following CDC guidelines in my personal life so that I can be there for you. So, when out in public, I wear my mask properly (that means over mouth AND nose) and I have no plans for any big parties, eating in restaurants or going to the movies or plays.
My wish for 2021 is that ALL of us can work together while we stay apart to beat this virus this coming year Let us stay healthy, follow science and be smart. Taking care of ourselves and loved ones is the most important thing. My love to all of you and your family. 2021 is the year of great things for all us.
With love and gratitude,
Anne
