The NY PLA Social Committee proudly hosted the very first Compassion Connection event this morning at the Ronald McDonald House.

It was a day rich with heart and humanity. We rolled up our sleeves, cooked brunch, and shared moments of laughter and warmth with families navigating incredibly tough chapters.

A simple meal turned into something much more.

A reminder that compassion is contagious, and community is what carries us through.

The 8th Opiate Fentanyl Awareness Walk will take place on Bloomfield Avenue. To participate, register at www.essexrecovery.net, email rlhealthguide@gmail.com, or call (862) 485-8811. The event includes a complimentary lunch and presentation at 12pm at First Baptist Church in Caldwell. Start and stop locations are available in Bloomfield, Glen Ridge, Montclair, Verona, and Caldwell. Everyone is welcome to attend and bring a friend. The walk is scheduled for Saturday, October 25, 2025, with a kickoff at Newark School Stadium at 8am. It's essential to raise awareness, as nearly 2000 NJ neighbors died of overdose in 2024, a number that, although lower than in 2023, remains unacceptable.

Now in its 31st year, the Health & Benefits Expo is the largest multi-employer and public benefits conference held in the New York Metropolitan area. Too many rehab centers are focused on things that don’t matter. The Valley Spring program is classy and comfortable, but we also believe accent pillows aren’t going to get you sober.

We focus on what matters. Healing the mind and body. Trust in a higher power, do the next right thing. Get better. Get back to work.
