Not only did spirits tell her she was gifted, Sam took it upon herself to conduct research about her abilities. In the beginning, she thought she was crazy but was proven otherwise when a psychic confirmed what she already knew, leading her to come out of the closet in her late teens. Samantha feels history and the paranormal go hand-in-hand as each time she visits a historic site such as the battlefield and surrounding area of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania; something always seems to happen. Being a medium and descendant of the American Civil War makes Samantha's encounters with spirits all the more interesting.
